Is Wedderspoon Real Manuka Honey?

To answer that question, we need to go back to the MPI standards.

According to the New Zealand’s government, as of February 5, 2018, all honey exported from New Zealand must be tested to show that it meets the MPI standard to be lawfully labeled as Manuka honey.

This might be a little confusing but fret not! Many of the standards are shared by MGO, UMF and KFactor, such as from “hive to home”, leptospermum presence, NON-GMO, chemical-free, etc.

Interestingly enough, we could not find the exact leptospermum content. We also could not locate the levels of other chemicals such as peroxide or methylglyoxal which are measured by MGO and UMF.

That being said, Wedderspoon takes great pride in the fact that all of their products are free from antibiotics, pesticides, complying with the New Zealand’s MPI certificate.
